Richard Lewis Sugarman, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away peacefully on May 12 in Washington, D.C., after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 89 years old.

Born on Sept. 6, 1935, in D.C., Richard lived a life marked by achievement, compassion and deep connections to his family and community. He was a devoted family man who cherished his relationships and leaves behind a legacy of achievement and passion.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of many years, Judith Sugarman; his son Kenneth Sugarman and his spouse Tommy Llewellyn; his daughter Caryn Sugarman Stein; his grandchildren Jessica Stein DeGirolamo and her spouse TJ DeGirolamo, and Brett Stein; his sister Elsa Weinstein; his son-in-law Bill Stevens; and numerous nieces and nephews, including Jill Weinstein Finci, Phil Weinstein, Bram Weinstein, Cheryl Burke and David Norris, along with their spouses and many great-nieces and nephews.
