On Oct. 13, James M. Goldberg of Chevy Chase, Maryland, passed away. Beloved husband of Christine (nee Mellas) Goldberg; devoted father of Elizabeth Goldberg; loving brother of Margery (nee Goldberg) Topf and cherished uncle of Neal Topf and Emily (nee Topf) Schmidt. Also survived by his brother-in-law Morris Topf, his grand-nephews Theo Schmidt, Julius Schmidt and Jacob Topf, his son-in-law Daniel Brichacek and many cousins.

Jim was a native Washingtonian who started his career as journalist, working nights at the Washington Daily News on the sports section. He later put himself through law school at night and became a respected D.C. attorney and counselor to trade associations across industries. He shared his love of history serving as president of the Capital Jewish Museum (formerly known as the Jewish Historical Society of Washington, D.C.). Throughout his life, he pursued his passions of travel, tennis and family. All the while, he never lost his love for his beloved Washington football team.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either Georgetown University Lombardi Cancer Center BellRinger Fund, Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C., or Montgomery Hospice.
