Abraham Pieniek

Abraham “Ari” Pieniek, 90 years old of Frederick, Maryland, passed away peacefully at home on July 18. Born on Aug. 24, 1933 in Brussels, Belgium, he was raised in Quito, Ecuador, longtime resident of Olney, Maryland, and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

He was a retired avionics communications engineer who worked for Pan American Airlines, Amtrak Train and Mitre Corp. He was an avid volunteer while living in South Carolina at the Horry County Library and the Myrtle Beach Airport.

Ari was the son of the late Joseph and Chasza Jaroszewska Pieniek. He was the husband of the late Iris Selma Finkel Pieniek and the father of the late Marc David Pieniek. He is the younger brother of Rosmari Pieniek Prutchi and the older brother of the late Wladimiro Pieniek. Ari is survived by his daughter Lisa Pieniek Stickley and husband Keith; his three grandsons Jared Stickley (Titus), Mason Stickley (Ashley) and Shane Stickley; and two great-grandsons Asa and Keith Stickley.

Ari will be remembered for his warped sense of humor, his kind and generous heart, his love of dancing, sports and of all animals. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to an Alzheimer’s foundation of your choice. Services entrusted to Sagel Bloomfield Danzansky Goldberg Funeral Care.
